Whether you're looking forward to Valentines Day or not, it's coming. And this year the gods have seen fit to make it land on a Saturday. In some ways this is a good thing. You won't have to worry about going to the pub and being surrounded by couples. Because it's a weekend lots of people, couples or otherwise, will be out simply because that's the great British tradition. However, there is a downside. At this time of year I imagine that lots of you, like me, are planning to get a bit exercise, burn off some of those festive calories and slimdown for summer (bikini season comes quicker than Christmas - that's a fact). The Breast Cancer Campaign is launching Pedal It Pink Liverpool, a cycling event to raise money for the charity. It takes place in Sefton Park on Sunday, April 19 (so there's plenty of time to get fit). Valentines Day always seems to bring on a fit of the screaming meemies in men. Most claim they won't take part because it's commercial. What a load of crap. What about Christmas, birthdays and St Father's Day? I've yet to come across a man willing to surrender his celebrations of these events because they're 'commercial'.
