Valentines Day at Liverpool Clubs

Whether you're looking forward to Valentines Day or not, it's coming. And this year the gods have seen fit to make it land on a Saturday. In some ways this is a good thing. You won't have to worry about going to the pub and being surrounded by couples. Because it's a weekend lots of people, couples or otherwise, will be out simply because that's the great British tradition. However, there is a downside. If you are single and you choose to spend Valentines Day at Liverpool clubs you could find yourself receiving some unwanted attention. Valentines Day makes everyone amorous, whether you want it or not.

If you are single and are actively seeking out 'pulling potential' you could do worse than head down to Mood. There's always something to please your ears, and eyes. Cube has plenty of poseurs and preeners and I'm sure they'll be out in force on Valentines Day at Liverpool clubs. No doubt the old razzle dazzle - The Raz - or, to give it its full name, The Blue Angel Club, will be heaving with hormonal students. In fact, if I was in a relationship (which I'm not), I wouldn't spend Valentines Day at Liverpool clubs because they're clearly a singles-only zone on 14th February.

One Liverpool club has even gone to lengths of banning couples. The Rawhide Comedy Club is hosting an Anti-Valentines Special. As well as comedy, the club is serving up a meal for all the happy singletons who turn up. So if you're fed up of walking past Clintons and seeing dozens of teddies bears and red balloons you can at least exact some sort of revenge by chuckling at the pitfalls of relationships. I'd imagine that the acts at Comedy Central at Baby Blue wil also be making fun of the whole Valentines ordeal.

Yes, whether they're anti-Valentines cynics or loved-up romantics, Liverpool's club promoters are using Valentines Day as an excuse to host an event that's out of the ordinary. As I said, whether you want it or not, Valentines Day at Liverpool clubs will not go unnoticed. Even Chibuku is honouring the day. They're teaming up with Wall of Sound to host the Valentines' Day Massacre at Barfly with the likes of Felix Da Housecat playing.

But one event that's used Valentines Day to spread the love in an altruistic way is going on down at the Liverpool Town Hall. It's a Valentines Ball in aid of the Lord Mayor's charities, which include the Alder Hey's Imagine Appeal. It's the children's hospital's charity, and throughtout the year it raises funds for medical research and vital equipment. A worthy cause indeed. It's £45 per person and includes a three-course dinner plus a disco. So, to avoid being groped on Valentines Day at Liverpool clubs, and to raise some money for charity, head here - and it's a black tie event so, ladies, you've got an excuse to dress up.
