The ViewLiverpool Review
Intimate club providing students with cheap drinks and dance music.
The Venue
The Lemon Lounge is a very small scale club room, situated on Berry Street, above the Metropolitan. The venue is relatively intimate with about a 200 person capacity. At weekend’s you can party till 3am at the Lemon Lounge; however it appears to be later than this on some event nights.
There seems to be minimal expenditure on the décor. The seating consists of three old garden chairs and two wobbly tables; this place isn’t designed for sitting down or lounging funnily enough, it’s a place for dancing! It is a poorly lit scene, with little to no club lighting effects. People look as if they are happy just to bop away next to the DJ box or on the dancefloor, getting the occasional drink from the bar.
If you go to the outside area there’s a smoker friendly area and there are a number of broken, rotting pub benches in an un-kept small yard; not the best seating unless you’re not fussed about ruining your outfit!
The People
The Lemon Lounge is a mainly student crowd, they come to get their fix of house or drum and bass music with some great DJ’s; the music’s happy vibes reflect on the Lounge’s cheerful, energized people. Although there is only one bar tender, you get served quickly and everyone is friendly
The Music
The Lemon Lounge holds different music nights each week from house to drum and bass. The music is quite an acquired taste and is strictly dance music. Some of the nights include KFuffle (techno and minimal house), Superfly (breaks/electro), One Army (drum and bass), Soul Jackin (soulful house) Butane (breaks) and many more.
The Drink
The drinks are very reasonably priced, which supports the students’ wallets, however there isn’t a lot of choice with it being a small bar.
The Last Word
The Lemon Lounge is a great place to go if you want to dance all night, slurp cheap drinks and mix with lively people.
