The ViewLiverpool Review
Chris Brown has partied and performed here as did Rihanna, so if you fancy a new nightclub where even the A-lister’s hang out then head to Studio. The VenueThe club is less than a year old and this is shown in its modern chic appearance. It's a five-minute walk from Bold Street and Lime Street station and opposite the Bumper nightclub. The club is instantly recognisable due to the big black sign with the words STUDIO emblazoned in red writing along with light bulbs around the sign, which looks a lot like the Cabaret sign.
Red ropes outside add glamour and make you feel like a celebrity even if it's raining and you’re in a long queue. Inside you pay at the front desk and walk up the red carpeted stairs to the open plan dancefloor.
The dancefloor is wooden and extremely big so you could try out your new break-dancing moves or the Soulja boy dance. There is a stage at the front of the club for live performances and the likes of Pete Doherty and Chris Brown have performed here.
There's also an upstairs with leather couches and tables and a red carpet, yet again adding to the classy feel of the club. On either side of the stairs there are podiums with poles and railings to dance in if you really want to be noticed. But be careful if you’re feeling a big tipsy and gyrating a great height!
Two bars, one downstairs and one upstairs, are long and have two sides so you can get served quicker. The bars are a dark brown wood with red material along the outskirts. Lighting switches from dim dusky red to all out disco and flashing lights. Some nights they put on green laser lights which look amazing.
As the club is pretty new to the Liverpool night scene the toilets are in really good condition with around 10 cubicles in the girls toilets, full length mirrors and tiled floors. Great additions to the toilets are the GHD straighteners for which you pay £1 for 90 seconds use and are a life saver if your hair is kinking and curling in all the wrong places.
The PeopleThe type of people that go here range from funky students to all out glamour girls wearing little clothes and a lot of makeup. As for the guys, Studio seems to attract the preened and polished-type as well as a few Jack-the-lads.
This is definitely a nightclub for the young who really want to party, drink and have a loud, fun and noisy time but also to impress. Although the girls may look cliquey and the boys intimidating, everyone is really pleasant and you can talk hair extensions, makeup and clothes in the girls' toilets.
A lot of young lads come here who are into break-dancing and body-popping and a few dance-offs have been started in the past. The club is really lively, as are the punters.
Door staff are burly bouncers who don’t say much but make sure no one steps out of line, and the bar staff are smiley and chatty but when they get busy they usually look very flustered but try to serve everyone as fast as possible.
The MusicStudio Rocks takes place on Mondays and music is indie, with the likes of The Kooks, Prodigy, Bloc Party and Kings of Leon. Tuesday hosts the Dirty Stop Out night which is specially designed for students. Music is a mix of hip hop, R'n'B and funky electro house and staff hand out sweets, glowsticks, UV face paints and shots, so it's a night for the ravers.
Saturday nights are the busiest. This is a huge night with photographers, free candy floss, bouncy castle and even an Elvis wedding chapel. The music on this night is chart pop, electro and funky house, R'n'B, hip hop and the odd cheesy tune.
The DrinkThere are many drink offers available at Studio depending on the night. Saturdays and Tuesdays offer £1.50 vodka mixers, four shots for £5, two for one on selected bottles such as alcopops and Kronenbourg and £5.60 for a four-pint pitcher.
Standard and popular wines are available for £2.20 a glass. Pints are £2 ranging from Bud, Stella, Carlsberg and Fosters. Ciders available are bottles of Magners and Bulmers for £3 and draught Strongbow and Magners for £2. The usual alcopops range from £2.50 to £3. Studio also changes its drink prices due to offers through the week.
