I had the unfortunate experience of patronising this place recently when I visited some friends in Liverpool for the weekend. Initially it seemed like a decent place, albeit a bit dingy, until I was accosted by their door staff whilst using the toilet. Fair enough- they need to take a tough stance on drugs but when I attempted to explain that I was "only using the toilet for it's intended purpose" the bouncer (who at this point was very much in my most personal space) repeated the phrase "and what" whilst gesticulating aggressively. I think he seemed a bit frustrated that I didn't have anything for him to confiscate and that I wasn't intimidated by him. After this experience, which I put down as a one off and tried not to let it ruin the night, I spent a bit of time with my friends before inevitably requiring the use of the toilet again. Cue the same routine, but this time with 2 bouncers. Totally over the top and I ended up leaving with my friends. If you are looking for a night free of violence and thuggery, then it's probably wise to avoid establishments like this where bouncers think an SIA licence grants them the right to act like common thugs with impunity.
The Magnet is the best, I always have a wicked night here and the live music is awesome!!
