Rustic and warm, you can chill at Metro.

The Venue
Located on Victoria Street, Metro is a small rustic venue that you step down into. The seating booths line one side of the venue and the bar occupies the other. It's an open plan space that leaves plenty of room for dancing, and the red brick decor with dim lighting and images of Paris and cabaret figures painted on the walls give it a warm ambience.

Although free wireless is available here you will be hard pushed to get a mobile phone signal. Metro offers a range of entertainment which includes an open jam jazz session on Tuesday nights from 8pm to late, where any aspiring musician and/or jazz singer can interact on stage with the resident band.

Metro also hold an open mic night for songwriters and acoustic artists on Wednesdays from 9pm till late so if you think you've got what it takes to be on centre stage then this is the place for you. The latter part of the week is for DJs and their eclectic mix of current tunes.

The People
Metro's staff are friendly and there is always a handful of barstaff waiting to serve your tipple of choice. The people who gather at Metro are an interesting mix of artists, students and pretty much anyone else who wants to enjoy the rustic feel of Metro's surroundings.

The Drink
Metro is known as a wine bar and as such there are some good choices where red, white and rose wines are concerned. Prices start at £2.60 for a small glass, £9.95 for a bottle of house wine and a great selection of wines other than Echo Falls which range from £10.95 to £38.00. Draught beers are between £3.10 and £3.20 for pints and a wide range of bottles, including Desperado, Tiger, Sabai and Smirnoff Black, for £3.30 each.

If Champagne is in order you will find something to suit your tastes and wallet with prices starting at £32.00 right through to £195 for a bottle of the fine Cristal Louis Roederer ‘97. The prices are average for this area; in fact they are a little cheaper.

The Last Word
If you are a striving musician or just in need of a drink and a dance your needs will be met at Metro.
