The Rat and Parrot is a chain of pubs that concentrate on cheap drink and pub grub.

The Venue
The Rat and Parrot is located in the busy Queen Square bus station, not far from Lime Street station. This pub is enormous with three levels and a paved balcony on the top deck for smokers.

The decor is similar to Wetherspoons with lots of oak and navy blue and a few couches dotted around. There is a bar on each level and normally the second floor is the busiest as it is home to three pool tables and a boxing machine. Young lads gather around this and bicker about who is more masculine and there's normally a lot of shouting and grunting coming from this area. It also has an Xbox, internet access and there is even a Pringles machine in case you get peckish. There are also a number of plasma screens on each floor.

The People
The Rat and Parrot is always very laidback. There's no dress code and it seems that anything goes. The clientele here are mainly local lads getting a cheap pint with their mates but as it turns to night the girls come in here to warm up before moving down Mathew Street. There's a fair few students in here attracted by the cheap prices. The bar staff are friendly, relaxed and will have a laugh and a joke. The Rat and Parrot has a very comfortable atmosphere to enjoy a drink in.

The Food and Drink
The Rat and Parrot serves up typical pub grub with table service available from noon to 7pm. There's burgers and chips, fish and chips, sausage and mash, sandwiches and a selection of desserts. Meal deals include two main meals for £8 and a main meal costs around £4.95.

Drinks are cheap, which explains why it gets so busy, pints can start from as little as £1.50. There are a range of familiar beers, spirits, house wines and alcopops. There are often good drink offers on especially during the week.

A good casual pub in the city centre that's entertaining and serves cheap drinks till late.
