Fantastic pub serving delicious homemade food and a wide range of beers, lagers and ciders. Brilliant service and well managed. Will be returning again soon.
The Stanley Arms is a very welcoming, traditional pub with extremely friendly staff and good service. The homemade food is delicious and there is something for everyone on the menu. I would highly recommend a visit for a quiet drink or a lunch/evening meal any day of the week! The staff are always there to help and you get great, fast service with a smile no matter how busy!
The Stanley Arms is a rare delight in the dying breed of traditional British pubs. I recently attended a funeral, and we had the wake in the Stanley afterwards, we were welcomed by their friendly staff and got served an outstanding buffet at a great price (including those delicious famous homemade chips). The management and staff were so accommodating and even saved us our own area to sit and to celebrate the life and share stories of our lost friend. Have been back since and plan to again..
Speedy service, delicious homemade food, top quality beers and all in a lovely countryside location. Been going to this pub for years, Highly recommend!
The Stanley Arms Aughton has been awarded a GRADE 5! You can't get a better award from the government in this industry than this!
I have enjoyed excellent service and delicious food at this pub for years!
There are not many pubs around these days to really relax and unwind like the Stanley Arms in Aughton.....
I cannot understand why anyone would not see that this pub is top quality!
It has been an absolute pleasure to eat and drink here and I thank the staff for what i believe is simply a "good business attitude".. this is evident in every aspect; from the quality food, speedy bar service, immaculate toilets and above all the 'happy' atmosphere that is at the heart of this cosy country pub.
I totally agree with Peter159 and GalwayGirl1969!I am very surprised by those other unfair and 'made up'comments as I have been going to the Stanley Arms forover 10 years, with my family and friends and have never experienced a bad meal or beverage. The homemade food is delicious and well cooked especially as a lot of the time thepub is very busy!As for the comments relating to 'microwave' chips and 'birdseye' meat this is a load of rubbish and they need to check there facts before they are spreading lies, as the meat and potatoes are locally sourced! Which you can tell by the quality and taste YUMMY!In relation to the scampi with lime sauce, scampi and lime sauce is not on the menu! So I am uncertain as to where they experienced it! At the end of the day it is a well- run, clean and friendly PUB, it is not trying to be a restaurant!!I am not one for leaving reviews either, but when i saw these comments I was devastated as The Stanley Arms deserves the good name it has worked so hard for, as being one of the last in dying breeds of successful local pubs that serves food.I would recommend The Stanley Arms to anyone who appreciates delicious homemade PUB food and well looked after beer!
Some of these reviews are very unfair, I'm not one for giving reviews but 2 of these comments made are not correct as it was a delightful meal.
This is a beautiful pub, with very friendly staff that provided us with kind and helpful service. I was down in aughton visiting friend and we went to this pub for lunch.
I has some home made soup which was great and a fantastic Steak and kidney pie (couldn't of asked for better). Next time i'm in the area i shall be calling back again!
Thanks, peter :)
I came across this review site whilst trying to find the telephone number for The Stanley Arms. I was SHOCKED and HORRIFIED to discover comments stating that the "Sunday Lunch was all microwaved rubbish - roast beef from a birdseye packet, over-sized soggy deep fried chip passed as a roast potato." THIS IS A COMPLETE LIE!I have been going to the Stanley for many years now, whether it is a quick bite to eat with my granddaughter, a family meal or just a coffee with my friends. The food has always been of top quality which is evident by their numerous awards. I especially enjoy their steak and kidney pie! It's made just how my mother did at home. The staff are pleasant and friendly and have always been happy to help. They are usually rushed off their feet on a Sunday because it is such a popular place to go, especially when there is a few of you as they offer a two course deal for ONLY £9.95!!! I can't compliment the Stanley enough. The only problem can sometimes be that the drinkers at the bar can be noisy and sometimes you have to wait for a table if your eating. But the staff are always on hand to sit us down as quickly as they can. But as they say, the proof is in the pudding. Why not try it for yourselves.
Completely agree with bridge178. Sunday Lunch was all microwaved rubbish - roast beef from a birdseye packet, over-sized soggy deep fried chip passed as a roast potato. The best thing was the horse radish - which was shared with the rest of the restaurant, the most attention we received from their atrocious overly made up staff.
Wouldn't usually bother with negative comments but wouldn't anyone else to pay for this horrendous experience.
Top quality food, which is real home made food. Even better Real Ales, well kept bar, with even better friendly staff a must for anyone who values British Pubs!
called in to stanley arms pub in aughton for a meal mon afternoon and I wish I hadn't, it was probably the worst pub meal I can remember ever having, menu said -breaded scampi with tartare and I think lime sauce, home made chips, the chips were hard dry and tasteless straight from the microwave but the scampi was even worse and the tartare sauce turned out to be a small plastic sachet plonked next to the scampi, never ever again. PS got one star because I could not figure out how to get rid of the one star.
