I went in The Abbey last night 28/01/2012 and the female member of staff with the southern accent was so rude and only wanted to serve males and was leaving my wife and other females to wait.

The rest of he staff were just wondering around like they had nothing to do but there was people waiting all over the place and the door staff just huddled by the front door doing nothing just watching people walk past outside and not concerned at what anyone was doing inside.

Nice looking pub but staff are terrible.

I won a free Party at The Abbey and me and friends had a fab night the staff were very friendly and the food was lovely! Great time over all will defiantly be back : )

Booked a private room at the Abbey Bar for my sis hen do, booked it through Suzi as we where not from Liverpool. she was so helpfully and made sure everything was booked and made sure we got what we asked for. the staff at the Abbey bar where amazing they made sure everything was done, made sure the room looked really nice. food was really nice drink prices where also a good price.
Had an amazing night thank you so much every1 for making my sis hen do a night to remember. would defo recommend the bar 2 any1. the stripper also made our night aswel

I had been in this bar when it was a varsity.
Liked it back then.
Now it's had a refurb, wow! I love it, the change it has made is massive.
Will be definitely making this bar a regular one I visit whenever I'm in Liverpool city centre, day or night.

I visited again at the weekend and had an exceptional time with my friends. We booked a table to watch the Everton V Liverpool game. We bobbed in early to have lunch before kick off. The food was well worth the money and the service was exceptional. As we had booked we received service for our drinks.
Defo be back to book our space to watch the World Cup!!

I have often visited this place during the last few years when it was Varsity. Went there over Christmas for the first time since it has changed to The Abbey. It looks really nice and the staff I spoke to were really friendly although I did recognise the two girls that served me as they had worked there since it was Varsity.

Aside from the way it looked and those two barmaids it was absolutely awful. Most of the many staff were running around as if lost and the manager was just wandering about with a drink in his hand ignoring the fact that his lovely new bar was an absolute mess and his staff (most of whom are new and clearly not trained properly) were clearly in need of his help. When my wife tried to raise an issue with him about the fact that there was no toilet roll in the ladies he was very rude and dismissive and said "just tell one of the staff, I'm busy" which he clearly was not.

I will not be going here again unless they sack that idiot!

I visited The Abbey over the festive period and had a great time. The food was really good and I found the staff really helpful they even tempted me into having a pudding! It was delicious.
We stayed the majority of the evening enjoying the cocktails.
Had a really good time will defo be back again.
