A laidback bar with some very attractive drink deals. Get glammed up on a Saturday, or chill out and watch the match on a Sunday.

The Venue
A silver Varsity sign is stuck against a beige and black border, which makes this bar easy to spot. It's a good place to go if you like sport as there are 18 flat screen TVs dotted around and three huge screens located high up so there's no chance of someone’s head getting in the way when you’re trying to see your team score.

Large and small varnished brown tables and chairs are dotted about to unwind at. Or you can slump into the dark leather couches. The floor and bar are also brown and varnished to give a stylish and modern feel.

The ceiling of is ark-shaped and has a huge disco ball in the middle creating a sense of space within the bar and complementing the dark colours of the floor, tables and bar. Bottles behind the bar and in the fridge are lined up impeccably creating a smart look.

The People
Varsity has a young and chic edge which attracts fashionable students. The bar also attracts an older clientele such as office workers for a relaxing drink or general shoppers looking to escape the busy city streets.

It's fun and versatile with drink deals throughout the week. On Wednesdays drinks are £1.50 from 10pm, Thursdays they're only £1 and on Fridays you can get two for one, while on Saturdays selected drinks are only £1.50.

If you fancy shaking a leg there's space to dance to mainstream chart and R'n'B. Feel free to break out the robot, the worm or whatever embarrassing dance moves you have up your sleeve.

Varsity has a great laidback atmosphere where everyone is glammed up, looking good and after a good time. Girls always look stylish and the lads look as though they hit the gym and take time putting themselves together. Bar staff have a laidback style and are welcoming and very friendly.

The Food
Main meals include curries such as lamb rogan josh, chicken tikka masala and veggie curry for only £3.50. There is also an offer for a drink and a burger for £4.95 and a great offer which is two meals for £5.50.

Salads include flaked tuna for £4.95 and mozzarella and beef tomato for £5.95. Delicious wraps include duck and hoi sin sauce for £4.75 and spicy chicken for £4.95.

Other mains include cajun chicken priced at £5.75, liver and onions for £3.95 and chilli con carne for £4.75. There's also buckets of fries with toppings like spicy chicken and prawn and spicy chicken strips, prices start from £5.95.

The Drink
Pints are priced between £1.75 and £2.35 including John Smiths, Strongbow and Fosters. Bottles are priced between £1.95 to £2.85 including Smirnoff Ice, VK and Bud. Spirits are priced between £1.85 and £3.50 and these include Smirnoff, Barcadi, Gordons and Archers.

The Last Word
Trendy, stylish and laidback with good music and good food - all this adds up to a good time at Liverpool’s Varsity.
