WHAT A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE !. I came across this restaurant by accident and was impressed by the look of it and the friendliness of the staff when I was making enquiries about Fathers day so I booked it.
When I read some of the reviews I became very apprehensive but we decided to give it a try anyway We are all SOO glad that we did.
There was 11 family members ranging from 3yrs up-to 82yrs and we all loved it the food was DELICIOUS and the service was excellent and the atmosphere was lively without being to loud we will definitely be going back there again.
First of all let me say I did not write this review for a free meal, I have eaten in many places more and less expensive than this and have had fantastic evenings, and even if the meal was free I would not return here!
That is how disappointed I was with this restaurant, maybe I got them at a bad time or maybe they are trying to impress after all the negative feedback they have had I can't say, but what I can re-iterate is my abysmal experience at this restaurant.
I have just read the previous person's review and I think they must either be as miserable as sin or on a mission for a free meal!
I went with my husband and his family to La Cubanita last Friday night and it was fantastic - one of the best nights out I have had in a long time.
We can be quite critical and I could not find anything bad to say about this little gem other than it is quite hard to find.
My mother in law and my father in law are in their 70's and they even got up and had a dance - they had a ball.
The food was fantastic - I had pork cordon bleu and it was really filling, well presented and we thought the menu was well priced.
I even opted for the chocolate dessert which was to die for - never tasted anything so good.
When you consider we had all the entertainment thrown in it wasn't an expensive night out and the band were Cuban.
We were told it was the only authentic Cuban restaurant outside London with the Cuban band and I know I have never been to anywhere like it - other than Cuba!
My mother in law was chatting away to a group of people from South Wales who had been recommended by another restaurant in Liverpool to come to La Cubanita and they had a ball.
So over all - we had great food and a fantastic night out and we can't wait to go back...even with the in-laws!
I was reading reviews for this place on here and from other sites after my partner said he wanted to go here for our anniversary, there were mixed reviews so I wasn't expecting much, and what a good job I wasn't.
We got there and I was impressed, such a lovely place nice decor, sadly that's where the positives end, (maybe I should have done it last).
We got a drink from the bar, eventually after watching the bar man make them for 5 minutes from "fresh" ingredients, we got 2 mojito's(£12), in 1/2 pint glasses with mint leaves that were brown around the edges, this didn't inspire me with confidence but this is where my partner wanted to take me for our anniversary.
I put this behind us as we sat down for our meal, the menu sounded great and we ordered, our starters arrived and I had ordered the costillas asada and my partner the croquetas de pollo, (ribs and chicken croquettes)
we were not impressed, the ribs were tough well very tough and the chicken croquettes didn't taste or look very homemade but our mains sounded great and still hoping for some of that Cuban magic we received our mains, the skewered drunken prawns and the salmon del atlantico.
Both our mains were cold, we couldn't find our waiter to let him know so we tucked in, the salmon was overcooked and both our mains were tasteless and the rice that accompanied them was as tasteless as plain rice.
Eventually our waiter returned as we had eaten as much as we dared too and we let him know about the problems, he smiled and cleared our plates, we got the bill and wow how expensive was that,
2 people 2 courses a bottle of wine, 2 coffee's and 2 baileys and well it was way overpriced.
I asked the waiter if I could speak to the manager, again he smiled and walked away, after finishing our drinks and chatting 10 minutes must have passed and the manager had not come to see us so we left.
I am sorry to say my part
Went to La Cubanita a few days ago. After hearing somebody talking about the new cuban restaurant we decided to give it a try.
I mean we have been to cuba and the place is full of energy, and the food was fantastic over their. Great meat eaters.... love it!
Since we enjoyed cuba so much we gave the restaurant a go...It was a friday night, at around 7 o clock, and after being shown to our tables, we ordered drinks and discussed what we each of us were having...
I have to say the menu was great, so much choice.Starters were great, main was extremely disappointing. Talk about miserable customers?
Ha its probably because they dined at La Cubanita.
Cold food (Just as well there wasn't much of it - apart from plain white rice with beans in, oh there was plenty of that), overpriced, and in need of medical attention when leaving, its so loud in there id suggest getting health care before you go.
That is just in case you don't want a perforated ear drum!I would suggest to anybody thinking of going to eat before you go, or rather find a nice pizza place on the way home, preferably "hot" and "filling"!
Oh and ask the waitress if you could kindly sit up stairs and not next to the stage where a live band is playing through you ears.
You may if your lucky even have a conversation whilst in La Cubanita, fair play to you if you do.
Well it wasn't the worst experience of my life, but I can safely say I will be traveling to cuba for my next cuban meal!
Awful atmospehere and food was disgusting - nice looking place but a disapointing night out. Wouldn't go back..
