I used to love this place until we went a couple of months back and it wasn't very busy yet we had to wave over a waiter to take our order.. Then our drinks went missing.. And our food when it was done was left on a hot plate for the waiter to bring over to us. We waited and waited and waited some more.. In the end we got it ourselves! .. The food standard had gone down hill big time too!... I can only assume that this is why its closed now because people stopped going for this reason!

I can't say a good thing about this CAFE !!!, service very poor waited an hour for the starter, the main course of kebabs was cremated and we both left the whole meal. AVOID AT ALL COST, go to weatherspoons and save yourself a few quid, eat better food and get better service.

nicolas is an extremely pleasant place to dine. food is good, fresh, and the open kitchen is great you can see the chefs cooking your meals, kids can go and help the chef make pizzas!! :-)

Was here last night. Food was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. Two starters were sauteed garlic button mushrooms (plenty of them) and one was a filled crepe in cheese sauce. Both were lovely. Main meals - one Beef Bourguignon, one Pollo Megrano (think that's how it's spelt) and one Halibut steaks with vegetables. All were beautifully cooked and tasted wonderful. Desserts - one Tiramisu and one Eton Mess - again lovely. With the meal a litre bottle of house wine - tasty and went down a treat. Service really good. Would thoroughly recommend and can't wait to go again.

really disappointed in this restaurant . the pate had the smell of catfood and the consistency of vomit and the taste to match .
the pizza was topped with red leicester and cheddar and wasn't good at all
the chicken kebab arrived hoisted on a piece of scaffolding and the plate overloaded with chips and a salad only a rabbit could handle
we were constantly ignored and had to wait twenty minutes each time we needed a drink .
the wait for desserts was over half an hour which presumably allowed the chef time to defrost the second rate Iceland frozen cakes .
will never go back ....an utterly dreadful experience

We have been going to Nicola's for over 10 years and never had a bad experience. The food, the staff, and the atmosphere are all excellent. We have had family birthday party's, leaving party's and New Years Eve party's there, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Young or old you are sure to have a good time. Irene & Karl

A large party of us went for a meal on a busy Friday night. The service was friendly, the food was excellent and we were not rushed at all. I had salmon with prawns...absolutely delicious. I can't wait to go back. *****

Great restaurant for a first date, quite busy and the food is delicious, avoid the garlic bread though if your looking for smooch later on!
