The ViewLiverpool Review
Stylish, fantastic service and an inventive menu - O'Este has lots to offer, and, with their meal deals, it's not as expensive as you might think...
The Venue
O’Este is known to many Ormskirk-ians as what used to be The Cricketers. Until 2005 it was a shut down pub, in desperate need of restoration. It was converted into a beautiful restaurant with a conservatory extension in what seemed like a matter of days.
Inside, the restaurant is stylish with a Mediterranean theme, and the vibe is very relaxed and chilled out. Eating in the conservatory part of the restaurant is a lovely experience especially in the summer. The kitchen is open so customers can see their food being cooked.
The People
The clientele can vary. Wednesday nights may attract a lot of students, celebrating a birthday before they go out on student night.
Weeknights are generally busy in O’Este, more so than any other Ormskirk restaurant because from Monday to Saturday they offer a two-course meal for around £10.95, or three courses for £14.95.
Staff are clearly very well trained, and go that extra mile to please customers. They are knowledgeable about the food and drink they are serving, and food arrives in a timely manner.
The Food
One of the best things about O’Este is the inventiveness of the menu. It offers a wide tapas selection, with many dishes for vegetarians. Dishes include a shish lamb kebab for £5.95 or sticky sesame buffalo wings for £5.95.
Their specials and dessert menu change weekly and their speciality, hanging skewers, also change regularly from steak to chicken and chorizo (£15.95).
Other dishes include chorizo and chilli sausage casserole for £12.95, or paella for £14.95. There is no limitation with the menu, you can mix and match from the tapas and specials as much as you like.
The Drink
They also offer a wide selection of wine and champagne, with the staff happy to inform you which will complement your meal. For the very special occasion they offer champagne costing up to £100 for a bottle of Dom Perignon. And they offer a large selection of lagers and cocktails.
The Last Word
A lovely place to eat and a favourite for many locals. O’Este was a roaring success from its opening day and let’s hope it continues into the future.
