Classy, sophisticated and chic St John’s is one of Liverpool’s finest restaurants.

The Venue
St John’s Restaurant is situated on the corner of Victoria Street, as part of the Sir Thomas Hotel, in the heart of the bustling and vibrant Capital of Culture.

At night there are doormen present who are very polite and you enter the restaurant on a red carpet which gives you the feel of fame and royalty. The bar and restaurant is very dimly lit and it has a romantic atmosphere.

Reservations are required at St John’s Restaurant as this is a favourite place to eat for the footballers and soap stars that dine in Liverpool. The dress code is strictly no sportswear or trainers. Best leave your Stevie G top at home.

The People
The restaurant is very elegant and the level of service is brilliant as the staff are friendly and can’t do enough to help. Some of the seats are in booths which give you that extra privacy you may seek for a romantic dinner for two. They often have bands or live acts playing in the bar. This provides good background music when eating although it can become a little loud and tiresome when drinking in the bar area.

The Food
The menu is quite uninventive for such a classy establishment. There is nothing on it that is radically different. However the quality of the food is exceptional and the steak is cooked to absolute perfection.

The quality nosh comes with a price though and at the end of the meal you have to add extra for chips, or anything else for that matter, to go with your £15 to £20 steak. The little extra is worth it as the chips are chunky homemade, delicious and very filling.

The Drink
A fabulous selection of wine is available. The Chablis is beautiful and complemented the steak perfectly. The bar also boasts an extensive choice of cocktails, however, when asking for a less well known cocktail, such as an Old Fashioned, you may need to explain to the bar staff what it is.

The Last Word
A very classy place to dine, great atmosphere and good live music. The food is cooked perfectly but don’t expect anything you couldn’t eat elsewhere…che
